The Degen Scholar reads everything and understands all of it slightly differently than intended, which is either genius or a very specific kind of damage and he would happily debate you on which. In the wars he was the one who found the flaw in the enemy's plan by reading a book the enemy had also read and simply reading it better. When the wars ended he did what scholars do, which is retreat into the library and emerge occasionally with terrifying conclusions. The dojo tolerates him because he is usually right and always exhausting. He considers being exhausting a form of rigor. He has read every text ever written on discipline and applied not a single one, a result he defends as the most rigorous experiment of his life.
