Degen Dojo — License & IP Rights

The short version
- You own your Degen. Hold it, sell it, transfer it — it's yours.
- You get a commercial license to your Degen's art while you own it — make merch, media, and derivatives. What you create is yours.
- The "Degen Dojo" name, logo and brand belong to the project/community — don't use them to look official or to sell knock-offs.
- The license moves with the NFT. Sell your Degen and the rights pass to the new owner.
By buying, holding, or using a Degen or its Art, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms. The current version is always published at degendojo.xyz/license and travels with the Collection.
1. Definitions
"Collection" means the Degen Dojo collection of 2,895 NFTs on the Solana blockchain. "Degen" or "Art" means the artwork associated with a specific NFT in the Collection. "Holder" or "You" means the wallet that owns a Degen NFT. "Degen Dojo," "we," or "us" means the community and operators that steward the Collection.
2. Your NFT
You own the NFT — the on-chain token itself. You have the exclusive right to hold, sell, transfer, and otherwise transact your Degen on any marketplace, subject to these terms.
3. Collection & Brand IP (reserved to Degen Dojo)
The "Degen Dojo" name, the torii/dojo logo and marks, this website, and the overall brand and collective identity of the Collection (the "Brand") are owned and operated by the Degen Dojo project and community. These terms grant you no rights in the Brand. You may not use the Brand, or anything confusingly similar, to imply official endorsement, to represent yourself as the project, or to launch a competing or "official" Degen Dojo product or collection.
4. Your license to your Degen's Art
For as long as you are the Holder of a Degen, Degen Dojo grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, publicly display, and create derivative works of that Degen's Art, including for commercial purposes (for example: merchandise, apparel, art, and media). This license applies to the Degen's artwork as a whole, not to individual traits in isolation. You own the intellectual property in any new derivative works you create under this license. You may sublicense these rights as needed to produce and sell those works — for example, to a manufacturer or publisher acting on your behalf.
5. Restrictions
You may not use the Art: (a) in connection with hate speech, harassment, or unlawful activity; (b) together with the Degen Dojo Brand or trademarks; (c) in any way that implies official Degen Dojo endorsement or that you are the project; or (d) after you no longer own the Degen. This license is tied to ownership: when you transfer or sell the NFT, this license transfers with it to the new Holder, and your rights under it end. Anyone who buys or receives a Degen is deemed to have read and agreed to these Terms. One fair exception on transfer: if you created something under this license and shared it publicly while you owned the Degen — a piece of merch or artwork, say — you may keep using and selling that specific work afterward, as long as you credit that it was made while you were the Holder, don't produce new versions of it, and don't use the Degen Dojo Brand.
6. About this collection (an honest note)
Degen Dojo was abandoned by its original, anonymous founders and rebuilt by its community. The original artwork was released without any license, terms, or stated rights, and its authorship remains anonymous. We grant the rights above in good faith as the collection's current stewards, to give holders clarity and confidence in using their own Degens. We do not represent that we hold registered copyright in each individual original artwork; our clearly-owned collection assets are the Degen Dojo brand and trademark and any new artwork we commission.
7. Not an investment; no financial advice
Your Degen is a digital collectible and a piece of art — it is not a financial product, security, or investment, and we make no promise of profit, resale value, or future utility. Nothing in these Terms or on this site is financial, investment, or tax advice. Own a Degen because you want to be part of the dojo, not as a bet on returns.
8. No warranty; not legal advice
Everything here is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Nothing in this document is legal advice, and it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Consult your own attorney before relying on it.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Degen Dojo and its community stewards are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your Degen or its Art, and our total responsibility for any claim relating to these Terms will not exceed what you paid for your Degen. In return, you agree to cover us for claims that arise specifically from your own use of the Art — for example, if something you make with it infringes someone else's rights or breaks these Terms. This isn't meant to be heavy-handed; it simply keeps the community stewards from being on the hook for what individual holders choose to do.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time as the collection and community evolve. The version published here at the time you buy, hold, or use a Degen is the version that applies to you. Material changes will be announced through our official channels.
11. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The parties will first try to resolve any dispute informally; any unresolved dispute will be handled through binding arbitration or a court of competent jurisdiction.

10. 本規約の変更

11. 準拠法と紛争
これらの規約は、法の抵触規則に関係なく、適用法に準拠します。両当事者は、まず紛争を非公式に解決するよう努めます。未解決の紛争は、拘束力のある仲裁または管轄裁判所を通じて処理されます。
