Shigusa Azuma once moved through the world as a brushstroke, deliberate, unhurried, every bow measured to the degree. Honor was his ledger and he balanced it daily, until the morning at the fish market when his gaze fell upon Goro haggling over mackerel with the fervor of a man defending a floor price, and something in Shigusa's disciplined heart tilted toward chaos he did not invite. He told himself it was merely curiosity, the way a monk might study a vice to better renounce it, but by dusk he had aped into a dice game behind the stalls, wagering coin he'd meant for temple offerings. Now he vows, with the same ceremonial gravity he once reserved for the sword, to become a better man, drafting elaborate rituals of restraint that dissolve the instant Goro waves him over with a wink and a fresh bottle of shochu. Still he bows before each failure as if it were a tea ceremony, insisting that even his relapses possess proper form, and in this small, stubborn elegance the old samurai somehow endures.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
