Left to fend for himself as a child, The Bearded Bandit found his home in the Dojo, but a loveless start makes an unpredictable beast, and he never quite lost the wildness that kept him alive when nothing else would. He took what he needed in the wars and called it survival, because for him it was, and the habit did not switch off just because the fighting did. When the wars ended he had no lord to miss and no glory days to mourn, only the sharp instincts of a boy who was never held. So the dojo became the first thing he ever chose to protect, and he protects it feral and sideways, robbing strangers and defending regulars in the same breath. He does not know how to be loved gently. He knows how to be loyal like a cornered animal, which, from him, is the same thing, and worth more. His is the discipline of a cornered animal, unteachable and unbreakable and completely useless for anything but surviving, which, to be fair, he does extremely well.
