Ikari was sane once, or sane enough, a blade held steady by discipline instead of spite, back when the war gave his fury somewhere honest to go. Then the war ended and took the enemy with it, and all that was left was a gambling house thick with smoke and cowards, and Oleg sitting there with a stack of chips and a smile Ikari wanted to peel off his skull. He remembers staring the man down, vein ticking in his temple like a war drum with nobody left to march to, and thinking of the old saying, that anger is a stone thrown into a hornet's nest, only he was the stone and the nest and the hand that threw it too. He lost that hand of cards, lost his temper twice, lost the thread of the vow he swore to hold, breathe first, strike second, some nonsense his old sensei used to preach before the sensei drank himself into the next life. Now he sits in dojos meant for meditation and just grits his teeth through it, wondering what future waits for a swordsman with no war, no enemy, and no way yet to put the rage down gently instead of just white-knuckling the hilt.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wore everything out. The Dirty Peasant Rags fighters have been in the Dojo so long that newness has become impossible — everything they own carries the evidence.
'Ikari' means anger — and here it's not a description, it's the whole man. He doesn't perform rage; he simply is it, structured, purposeful, and permanent.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
