Diary
Angry Ikari once swore his blade would only sing for justice, but at the Degen Dojo he traded his katana's edge for a shamisen and serenaded the courtesans until his own voice cracked with something that wasn't quite rage, though the vein in his temple didn't get the memo and throbbed on anyway. "Anger is the enemy of the mind," he growls now, quoting some dead monk he half remembers, then immediately hurls a sake cup across the room when someone laughs at his singing. He became a mess that night, silk robes stained, ballads slurred, a warrior undone not by an opponent but by his own bad decisions and worse pitch. Every morning he vows discipline, meditates for four whole minutes, then snaps at a servant for breathing too loud and calls it justified fury. He is, by his own furious admission, a true degen, and the courtesans still request an encore he refuses to give, if only because giving in again might finally kill the last of his pride.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Comfort and culture combined. The Sushi Love Loose Kimono fighters dress for the life they're building, not the fight they're in.
'Ikari' means anger — and here it's not a description, it's the whole man. He doesn't perform rage; he simply is it, structured, purposeful, and permanent.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Movement made permanent. The Long Flowing fighters trail behind themselves in every room they enter — the hair arrives first, then the fighter.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
