Diary
Ikari trained for war, not for wardrobes, but there he was at the men's pleasure house, katana drawn, robe abandoned somewhere between the second parry and the third shot of shochu, vein throbbing on his forehead like a live wire with nowhere to ground. 'Anger is a wind which blows out the lamp of the mind,' his old sensei used to say, and Ikari screamed it back at the room while swinging steel bare-chested at a man who was mostly just trying to enjoy his evening. He came here promising himself discipline, one drink, one dance, no chaos, and instead he aped straight into full send mode, clothes rugged off his own body by his own hand, dignity floor-priced at zero. Yet when the dust and the silk robes settled and nobody was bleeding, only laughing, he stood there gasping, weapon still raised, and admitted through gritted teeth that this, somehow, embarrassingly, was everything he'd ever wanted. The vein did not go down for hours, but for the first time in a long time, neither did his spirits.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
'Ikari' means anger — and here it's not a description, it's the whole man. He doesn't perform rage; he simply is it, structured, purposeful, and permanent.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The tiger, bound. The Tiger Headband Ruffian fighters contain something predatory with a strip of cloth and consider this sufficient.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
