Assassin Fuzen once took contracts the way monks take vows, silent, exact, finished before the target knew the wind had changed. Now he sits in the wreckage of his own quarters, kimono ruined beneath him, nipples raw and weeping from some indignity he refuses to name aloud, a slow contract with his own body that simply will not close. He tells himself this is temporary, the way he tells himself the dice will turn, the way he tells himself tomorrow he trains at dawn instead of drowning the shame in warm sake and colder regret. There is no elegant kill here, no clean exit, just a man who once measured his worth in silence now measuring it in stained silk and the particular humiliation of being undone by his own household. He exhales, patient as ever, and marks this too as unfinished business, another debt the universe owes him, another blade he will one day, someday, surely sharpen again.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.

'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
