Diary
Drooling Azuma once carved through battlefields with a blade so disciplined it barely trembled, but these days the only war he wages is against an all-you-can-eat yakiniku menu, and honestly the menu is winning. When a crew of scrappy bandits made the fatal mistake of jumping the line for the last tray of wagyu, Azuma unraveled into something feral, something ancient, tossing tongs like shuriken and screaming about honor between mouthfuls of short rib. He walked away from the brawl trembling, grease on his knuckles, heart pounding not from fear but from a thrill he hadn't felt since the wars, a shameful electric hunger that had nothing to do with bandits and everything to do with the smell of char and chaos. He tried, weeks later, to swear off violence and gluttony both, to sit zazen and eat plain rice like a man rebuilding his spirit, but he lasted four minutes before aping back into a table for twelve, ordering everything, daring anyone to touch his skewers. Some men chase enlightenment; Drooling Azuma chases seconds, thirds, and the next glorious excuse to lose his mind over meat.
Without the gold. The Jesuit Crosses fighters have the same conviction but carry it lighter — the weight is in the belief, not the metal.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The Dojo wrote on it. The Degen Graffiti Rice Hat fighters carry the collection's mark on the highest point of their body.
War god's spear. Divine reach. The Bishamon Yari fighters have authorization from something older than the Dojo.
