Diary
Drooling Azuma once split armies with a single downstroke, but the wars dried up and left him with a hunger that had nowhere to march, so he pointed it at his own phone screen instead. He aped his entire savings into a coin he couldn't pronounce, from the comfort of his own futon, drool pooling on the pillow like some sad ronin tide, and watched the floor fall out beneath him candle by candle. Every yen he'd hoarded since the disbandment vanished before he'd even finished his bag of chips, and somewhere between the crash and the third bag he felt his self-esteem quietly check out too, bowing politely on its way to the door. He swore, as he has sworn every week since, that tomorrow he'd wake at dawn, meditate, budget, become the disciplined blade he used to be, and then promptly hit snooze until noon and reopened the charts. Broke, undignified, gloriously unbothered, Azuma now calls himself free, because when you have nothing left to lose, no one can rug you twice.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Turns toward light. The Silken Sunflower Kimono fighters move toward what sustains them without apology or explanation.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Carried more than worn. The Pocket Glasses fighters have perfect vision when they choose to apply it — the rest of the time, they let instinct run.
The Dojo's samurai. The Dejen Samurai fighters carry the warrior tradition through the collection's own lens — ancient code, contemporary context.
Games within games. The Chō-Han Gambling Dice fighters turned the casino into the armory and find this philosophically consistent.
