Beneath the thousand vermillion gates of Fushimi, Drooling Azuma once found his calling mid-brawl with Ikari, fists flying, drool flying farther, and something in his chest roaring awake like a floor price mooning at 3am. Back then his days were small and holy: shovel in hand, shrine grounds swept clean of every last dropping, a monk's discipline poured into the humble art of picking up poop. Now his appetite has no war left to feed, so he apes into whatever's in front of him, food, fights, chaos, degeneracy, loud as a liquidation alarm and twice as undignified. He tells himself tomorrow he'll wake early, meditate, maybe even find a shrine to sweep again, but tomorrow always smells like sake and regret instead of incense. Some nights, gut full and pride emptier, he swears the poop was cleaner work than this, at least the poop never talked back or rugged him for his lunch money.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Gold-edged, elevated. The Pompous Glasses fighters have earned the right to look down at something and have chosen to look down at mediocrity.
Elevated tradition. The High Straw Rice Hat fighters dress high above their own heads — everything they do is reaching upward.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
