Diary
Before the drool, before the belly full of regret and gas station sushi, Drooling Azuma ran his block like a shogun ran a province, all silk and menace and Yakuza math that never favored the other guy. The empire cracked at Mount Koriyoka, where he took the one friend who trusted him and squeezed him for everything, blackmail dressed up as brotherhood, and told himself it was strategy instead of the sound of a man aping into his own ruin. There was no war left to feed after that, just appetite, loud and gluttonous, looking for something to conquer and settling for buffets and bad bets instead. Now he swaggers through the Dojo like the mountain never happened, chest out, chin high, a proud man in a stained gi, chasing discipline the way he chases a floor price that already rugged him. He loses that fight every single morning and somehow struts out of it looking like he won, drool and all.”, and that is the whole undignified glory of Drooling Azuma.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Soft exterior. The Puppy Kimono fighters discovered that disarming presentation is its own strategy — you stop seeing the threat until it's too late.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Time made visible, flowing. Flowing Dreads fighters carry their history in motion — every lock a year, and the years are moving now.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
