Diary
Drooling Azuma once split armies with a single downstroke of his blade, but these days the only thing he splits is a bag of mushrooms three ways with his stomach doing the other two votes. He and Haru climbed toward Mount Fuji howling like it was a raid on the old shogunate treasury, Azuma already narrating the vision quest he was owed before the first cap even hit his tongue. He chewed with the same reckless hunger he once brought to a battlefield, mouth open, drool running, convinced the mountain itself was about to hand him enlightenment on a silver tray. Instead the sky stayed the same dull gray, his stomach gurgled louder than any revelation, and Haru just shrugged at the underwhelming trip while Azuma sulked that even the cosmos had rugged him. He swore right there, belly still growling, that tomorrow he would fast, meditate, become disciplined again, a vow that lasted exactly as long as it took him to smell someone else's grilled skewers on the way down.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Sovereignty in fabric form. The Queeny Chic fighters dress with authority that was never granted by anyone else and therefore can't be revoked.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The tiger, bound. The Tiger Headband Ruffian fighters contain something predatory with a strip of cloth and consider this sufficient.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
