Diary
Drooling Azuma once carried himself like a general at the rice markets of old Sakai, barking orders with a mouth built for conquest and a belly that never once knew retreat. When the wars dried up he tried the same swagger at the crypto stalls, aping into his own commander's identity to flash bigger bags and louder bravado, convinced nobody would notice the drool on his chin didn't match the dignity in his voice. The market noticed. It rugged him hard, floor and all, and the laughter that followed hollowed out whatever samurai posture he had left, leaving him greedy for redemption but too loud and too hungry to ever find it quietly. Now he trains with the discipline of a man chasing his last bowl of rice, swinging wide, chewing wider, promising every dawn that today he'll be measured, and failing gloriously by noon.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Mastery without ceremony. The Kung Fu Master fighters stopped needing to prove the title long before anyone stopped asking for proof.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
