Diary
Azuma once believed the palace roof at midnight was where legends were forged, so naturally he climbed up there with a jug of sake and an empty stomach the size of his ambition, hollering for The Old Dragon to show himself and grant him fortune. The Old Dragon obliged, and in one greedy, gloriously undignified gulp Azuma swallowed whatever cursed wisdom the beast offered without asking the price, because that has always been his way, ape first, read the fine print never. Now he drools at the mere mention of food, gold, or glory, an appetite with no war left to feed it, cursed to crave everything and satisfy nothing, floor forever out of reach no matter how hard he claws upward. He tried, for exactly one humiliating morning, to meditate like the disciplined swordsman he used to be, but got distracted by a rumor of free noodles three streets over and abandoned his cushion mid-breath. Tainted, ravenous, and louder than any monk has ever been, Azuma insists he has never been more miserable, all while eyeing your plate like it owes him money.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The dragon lives on the body now. The Dragon Head Tattoo fighters carry their ambition on the surface — it's not hidden, and it's not a metaphor.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
