Diary
Goro was always the last one spoken to and the last one served, so he learned early that patience wasn't a virtue, it was a survival tactic, a quiet weapon sharpened at the bottom of every pecking order. At the Hidden Teahouse he waited through three insults, two spilled cups of tea, and one too many jokes about his rank before he finally rose and put his superior through a paper wall, patience finally cashing out like a bag held too long that somehow, miraculously, mooned. They called it an attack; Goro calls it a market correction. These days he still watches everything from the corner, still waits people out, but his discipline now mostly gets tested by a dispensary menu he refuses to read past the first three strains, promising himself just one puff before forms practice and somehow surfacing four hours later, wiser, hazier, and still, technically, the youngest person in any room he's aped into.
Heavier than gold. Less prestigious. More honest. The Iron Earring fighters chose function over signal and consider that to be the signal.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Self-described. The Womanizer clothing is a declaration that the fighter has a particular relationship with the world and considers this worth advertising.
'Goro' — fifth son, who learns early the world won't wait, so he'd better learn to wait for it. Patience was his whole art: the one who held position long after holding stopped making sense.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Movement made permanent. The Long Flowing fighters trail behind themselves in every room they enter — the hair arrives first, then the fighter.
The soul of the Dojo. Folded ten thousand times. The blade remembers every holder it has passed through.
