Oleg Of War never apologizes, not to the ninjas he screamed at in his own family's house, not to the vase they knocked over mid-brawl, not even to himself when he woke up on the tatami with a bruised ego and a bruised everything else. He'd overestimated his skill the way he overestimates his tolerance for sake and his ability to fold in a high-stakes mahjong game, which is to say completely, magnificently, without a shred of self-awareness. The old masters would call it hubris; Oleg calls it branding. Now he's announced plans to open his own dojo, though the curriculum so far consists of one whiteboard that says 'DISCIPLINE (TBD)' and a half-finished bong shaped like a katana that he insists is a training tool for breath control. He'll probably rug his first three students by week two, blame them for not believing in his vision hard enough, and somehow still convince the fourth one to invest.'
