Diary
Yuuki once carried himself like a blade held to a whetstone, all purpose and quiet fire, the kind of ambition that got written into scrolls before it got written off. Then came the izakaya, and then came Oleg, a mountain of a man nursing shochu like it owed him money, and Yuuki did what old instincts told him to do: he stared him down, chin level, breath even, the last honest act of discipline he had left in him. Oleg did not blink. Yuuki did not blink. The izakaya did not survive the standoff with its dignity or its inventory of ceramic dishware intact, and neither did Yuuki's membership at the Dojo, which voted him out by a margin so decisive it barely qualified as a vote. He tells people now that he retired undefeated, technically true, since nobody actually won, and every morning he still squares his shoulders and stares down small things with tremendous conviction, a bowl of cold ramen, a vending machine that ate his coin, the ghost of who he used to be. The old discipline lost, but the stare survived, and Yuuki wears it like a medal nobody asked him to earn.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wore everything out. The Dirty Peasant Rags fighters have been in the Dojo so long that newness has become impossible — everything they own carries the evidence.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ancient discipline, modern retention. The Braided Samurai Ponytail fighters maintain something traditional precisely because the world keeps trying to make them let it go.
Alive. Responsive. The Enchanted Snake fighters have a weapon with its own agenda, and the fighter and the snake have reached an understanding.
