Fever Azuma once cut through wars like sunstroke made flesh, a blade so hot the enemy surrendered just to stop sweating, and when the fighting ended he carried that same furnace into every dice roll, every degenerate ape, every last coin he owned. Inside the Dojo one humid night, mid-bet, someone's hand wandered where no hand should wander, and Azuma, too delirious with heat and drink to react in time, watched his entire stack vanish in the confusion like mist off a summer road. He screamed at the ceiling beams about honor and violation and floors that don't hold, but the coins were gone, rugged by touch and by his own blazing inattention. Now he says he wants quiet, a small hut, plain rice, the ember banked low, and every morning he tries, kneeling in stillness for almost four whole minutes before the fever in his blood drags him back toward noise, neon, and one more overheated bet he swears is his last. The east still burns in him, discipline forever just out of reach, scorched at the edges like everything else he loves.”
