Diary
Ikari had held the fish-gutting knife like it owed him money, and when the old sword-drills in his blood woke up mid-shift at the Tsukiji stalls, he answered the call the only way he knew how, carving arcs through mackerel crates like a man settling a decade-old grudge. "Anger is a wind that blows out the lamp of the mind," his sensei used to say, and Ikari always hated that quote because it never once told him where to put the wind when there was no lamp left to blow out. His boss did not appreciate the katana-style filleting seminar he gave to a horrified crowd of tourists, and so he was fired on the spot, vein throbbing in his temple like a war drum with nothing left to march to. He should have felt shame. Instead he felt alive, grinning through the fury, already vowing this was the last time, the very last time, right after just one more round at the tables to cool off, because discipline for Ikari has always been a promise made loudly and broken quietly, the way a vow shatters when it meets a man who has forgotten what peace even smells like.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Still learning. The Student Gi fighters are the most dangerous in the Dojo — they have no habits yet, no fixed patterns, no ceiling.
'Ikari' means anger — and here it's not a description, it's the whole man. He doesn't perform rage; he simply is it, structured, purposeful, and permanent.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Nothing hidden. No armor above the neck. The Bald fighters face everything without cover and consider this the only honest approach.
