Diary
Ikari once rode into what he still calls the last honest battlefield of his bowels, and lost. The horse felt it first, the flinch, the betrayal, and then all of Ikari's ancestors felt it too, somewhere in the afterlife, wincing in unison. He grits his teeth and says a warrior's rage should be a controlled fire, not a controlled loss of bodily function, and the vein at his temple throbs like it agrees with him more than he does. Uninspiring, he spits, as if the word itself owes him an apology, as if dignity were a debt collector he could out shout. He swears daily he will master discipline again, breath by breath, rein by rein, and daily he ends up screaming at a horse that no longer trusts him, which is, infuriatingly, the most honest relationship he has left.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Still learning. The Student Gi fighters are the most dangerous in the Dojo — they have no habits yet, no fixed patterns, no ceiling.
'Ikari' means anger — and here it's not a description, it's the whole man. He doesn't perform rage; he simply is it, structured, purposeful, and permanent.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
