Before the markets, Haru carried himself like a blade fresh off the forge, chin high, grin already loaded like a weapon he never had to draw twice. He strutted past the stalls certain that nothing in this crowded, smoke-curled bazaar could humble a man who once trained under masters who whispered his name with respect, back when discipline was a religion and not a punchline. Then came BBQ Ben, tongs raised like a shogun's blade, and the first bite of that glistening, sauce-drunk skewer rewired something ancient in Haru's chest, some ronin circuit shorting out into pure, embarrassing bliss. He laughed too loud, ordered three more, and told himself this was strategy, not surrender, even as his old sensei's voice groaned somewhere in the back of his skull about wasted potential and unwashed hands. Now he grins through the grease-stained aftermath like it was destiny all along, because admitting he got aped by a brisket stand is a defeat no cheerful mask can fully hide, though gods know his smile is still trying.”
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
