Diary
Haru tells it like a highlight reel: steel flashing under temple lanterns, ronin folding one by one at the great Buddhist temple, and himself walking out grinning ear to ear, thumbs up, never felt better, bro. What he leaves out is that somewhere between the third kill and the incense smoke, his self-esteem got left behind on those stone steps like a floor price that quietly rugged him overnight. So now he apes into everything with the same manic sunshine, another blunt, another bet, another round he definitely did not need, because stillness is the only opponent he has never once beaten. He swears every morning he will meditate, sharpen his form, return to discipline like the old masters, and every morning he is instead cracking jokes with a lighter in one hand and yesterday's regret in the other. Ask him how he is doing and he will beam that same blinding grin, tell you it has genuinely never been better, and somewhere underneath that iron little smile a nineteen year old ronin is still falling, slow, forever, in the temple courtyard he has never quite left.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Traditional footwear made into a statement. The Strap On Geta fighters move in a way that makes noise — deliberate, rhythmic, impossible to miss.
The man who decided grinning was braver than breaking. He held a line so long his smile became the squad's good-luck charm; now he beams through the wreckage of peacetime, a very tired samurai behind the widest smile in the Dojo.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
