Haru grins the way other men grip a blade, wide and unwavering, even when the dice in the red light district of some nameless post-war town swallowed the last of his family's fortune in a single unlucky roll. When a viper slithered out from under the gambling table to claim the pot for itself, Haru laughed, said "not today, buddy," and put it down with a chopstick and pure spite, then framed the fang like a trophy instead of a warning sign. Everyone around him saw ruin; Haru saw a floor, a bottom to build from, and announced right there among the sake cups and scattering coins that he'd open his own dojo, no tuition, good vibes only, students welcome even if they're also degens who aped their rent into shrimp on a stick.
