Once Azuma's hunger was a blade sharpened for war, honed on discipline and duty, but the wars ended and left him a mouth with nowhere to bite, so now he stalks the grey mists like a man starved for a fight that no longer exists. He spots Goro through the fog, some rival degen shimmering like the last dumpling on the plate, and before thought can catch up to appetite Azuma sheds his robes right there, bare and bellowing, convinced nakedness is strategy and not just poor impulse control. He tells himself this is training, that a true ronin bares himself to the elements to temper the spirit, but really he just wanted Goro to see the goods and flinch. The recovery afterward is slow and undignified, wrapped in blankets he definitely stole, nursing bruised pride and a cold that a real samurai would've shrugged off in one meditative breath. He vows discipline tomorrow, vows it loud enough for the whole dojo to hear, and everyone already knows he's lying, himself included, greedily eyeing the next mist to strip in.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Unglamorous and honest. The Black Peasant Sack fighters didn't dress for anyone else. They dressed for function and found that function is its own statement.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Focus made visible. The Karate Headband fighters bound their intention around their skull so it couldn't escape during the fight.
Patience as weapon. The Noose fighters don't rush — they set the conditions and wait for the opponent to walk into them.
