Diary
Drooling Azuma once carved his name into three provinces with a blade sharper than his patience, but when the last war ended his hunger didn't retire with him, it just went looking for a new battlefield and found one on Degens Path. He was three bong-rips deep into a joint the size of a shogun's forearm, eyes closed, drool pooling like tribute at his feet, when some nameless grifter walked off with the katana his own father had forged. Azuma didn't even notice for an hour, too busy chasing the ghost of a high that kept sliding out of reach the way discipline always did. He swears now, loudly, to anyone within shouting distance, that he's retired from that life, no more smoke, no more sloppy naps in enemy territory, just focus and honor from here on out. He announced this retirement three separate times this week, each one interrupted by a fresh joint, a louder nap, and the creeping, gloriously undignified suspicion that his appetite retired from nothing at all.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for sensation. The Splitting Axe Ache fighters' hair is named for how their opponents feel after they're done.
