Diary
Drooling Azuma once trained under masters who spoke of chi and restraint, of hunger tamed into precision, and somewhere between the last war ending and the first sake bottle emptying he decided precision was overrated and hunger was the whole point. At the Fight Pits, betting slips crumpled in one fist and a skewer of mystery meat in the other, he spotted her across the blood-slicked dirt and did what any self-respecting ronin with zero impulse control would do: he flexed, he bellowed his own name like a ring announcer, and he somehow, gloriously, landed her attention anyway. Word spread through the stands faster than the odds shifted, charisma points stacking in his chest like unpaid tabs, and for one shining night Azuma felt less like a discarded blade and more like the main event. He swore, as he always swears, that tomorrow he'd meditate at dawn, eat clean, court her properly like the disciplined swordsman he used to be, but dawn arrived to find him face-down near the betting cage, grinning, drooling, utterly undefeated in the only fight that mattered. He has never felt better, and he has never been more wrong about what
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Blessed by the Dojo's own rites. The Ordained Dejen fighters carry something that can't be revoked — the Dojo recognized them and that recognition is permanent.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Precious material on the most important tool. The Golden Glasses fighters invested in how they see — and the investment shows.
Named for what grew. The Wise Greatness fighters became something across time that couldn't be rushed and didn't try to be.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
