Diary
Drooling Azuma once ruled his own quarters like a shogun ruled a province, snacks stacked like tribute, blade dulled from disuse, belly leading every charge. Then the sparrows came, a whole flock of them ambushing him mid-nap over a half-eaten onigiri he swore was rightfully his, talons and feathers turning his tatami into a battlefield he never asked for. He fought back with the wild, greedy fury of a man defending his last bag, swinging pillows, screaming war cries, somehow landing on instinctual footwork his old sensei would've wept to see wasted on birds. When the feathers settled he was sharper, faster, meaner, a diamond-handed brawler forged by chaos instead of discipline, and he tried, briefly, to turn that into real training before getting distracted by a bowl of weed and the last of the onigiri. He tells the story loud, tells it often, and never once mentions that he still hasn't cleaned the room.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Comfort and culture combined. The Sushi Love Loose Kimono fighters dress for the life they're building, not the fight they're in.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
The Dojo itself, rendered on glass. The Dojo Graffiti fighters see everything through the collection's own aesthetic — they can't separate themselves from it.
Tied before the fight. The Green Bandana fighters have a ritual of preparation — the bandana is how they mark the transition.
The soul of the Dojo. Folded ten thousand times. The blade remembers every holder it has passed through.
