Diary
Once Drooling Azuma commanded the underworld the way a shogun commands rice fields, every nod a decree, every silence a threat, until the night he stumbled into his own futon and found Goro sprawled there like he'd aped into the wrong life. Azuma should have drawn steel, restored honor, done something a Yakuza boss with any self-respect would do, but instead he just stood there drooling, mind already spiraling into what-ifs and moon-math about the empire he let slip through his fingers. He swears every morning he'll rebuild the old discipline, wake at dawn, meditate, stop chasing every shiny degenerate thrill that crosses his path, and every morning he instead face-plants into a mountain of gas station snacks and regret. The appetite that once fed wars now just feeds itself, loud and undignified, gorging on whatever's floor-priced and available since there's no empire left to conquer. Somewhere between the ache for lost glory and the shame of finding another man cozy in his sheets, Azuma still wonders, mouth full, what could have been if he'd just knocked first.
Worn deliberately. The Nails fighters made choices with their appearance that most would call unconventional and they would call honest.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
No clothing needed. The Shirtless Runt fighters removed every layer between themselves and the fight. Maximum exposure. Maximum honesty.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Color and structure combined. The Orange Bantu Knots fighters make their warmth architectural.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
