They say Azuma had the bearing of a shogun once, spine straight as a katana, eyes fixed on some horizon of duty, right up until the Darkness Festival in Kurama handed him a cup of sake and a view of dancing hips and every noble thought in his skull filed for bankruptcy on the spot. Somewhere between the drums and the drool he traded the throne of a shogunate for a permanent seat at whatever table was loudest, and honestly he's never once looked back, mostly because looking back requires focus he does not currently possess. Now he apes into anything shiny, degens his rations on gambles that make his old war council weep from whatever afterlife they're in, and still swears every morning today's the day he finds discipline again, usually while reaching for a second plate before the first is even finished. He lives one day at a time because that's the only unit of time his attention span can actually hold, and honestly, given the drool and the noise and the sheer gluttonous joy of it, the old shogun's ghost has stopped fighting him on it. Some men chase glory; Azuma chases seconds, thirds, and whatever's on someone else's plate, and he chases it loud.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for what it abandoned. The No Honor Kimono fighters gave up on the codes others follow and found that this freed them completely.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Movement made permanent. The Long Flowing fighters trail behind themselves in every room they enter — the hair arrives first, then the fighter.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
