Diary
Drooling Azuma marched on Edo palace with the swagger of a man who once split helmets for a living and now just wants a bigger bowl, convinced the ancient caretakers guarding the grounds were an easy floor to ape into for bragging rights. He shoved past a cane, licked his lips at a shrine offering that was clearly not his to eat, and got three grandmothers and one furious grandfather spitting on him in perfect disgusted unison before someone's walking stick found his forearm with the precision of a battle-tested strike. The bone cracked, the crowd cheered, and Azuma just grinned through the pain and the phlegm, already plotting his next reckless swing at glory or at least at snacks. Somewhere under the appetite is the ghost of a disciplined blade, the one that used to wait, breathe, and choose its moment, but that samurai starved out years ago and this greedy loudmouth ate his ration too. He regrets nothing, requests a bigger bowl, and insists the cast on his arm just means more room for tattoos of everything he's about to ruin next.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
War color, formal cut. The Red Warrior Kimono fighters dressed for the battle they expected and arrived at the one they got.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The Dojo wrote on it. The Degen Graffiti Rice Hat fighters carry the collection's mark on the highest point of their body.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
