Drooling Azuma once swore an oath of restraint, back when his blade meant something and his belly answered to a bushido clock instead of pure hunger. That oath is a dead scroll now, and up on Mount Koriyoka he proved it loud, aping into a den of merry widows with his coin purse fat and his judgment thinner than rice paper. He woke tangled in silk and regret, purse gone, floor rugged clean out from under him by hands he never even saw coming, and somewhere a widow's laugh still echoing off the rocks like a temple bell mocking his old vows. He tried, for exactly one morning, to draw up a new discipline, wake at dawn, meditate, guard his gold like a real samurai, and by noon he'd already blown that plan chasing another feast with no war left to justify the appetite. So he shrugs, drools, and keeps living one glorious undignified day at a time, because a man who's already lost everything twice figures the only sin left is showing up hungry.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not a garment — a record. The Battle Scars clothing is what's left after everything else was stripped away. These fighters wear their history.
'Azuma' — east, the rising sun. Once a warrior whose hunger for the fight rose every morning: first over the wall, last off the field. Peacetime left the hunger nowhere to go.
