As the youngest of his dojo brothers, Goro learned long ago that patience beats haste, so he stood dead still in the roaring middle of Shibuya crossing while a thousand strangers rushed past like a river around an old, unmoved stone. Neon signs screamed about token launches and ramen specials, but Goro just breathed, let his mind go blank as an unstamped scroll, and felt something like the old discipline click back into place for one glorious minute. When the crowd finally thinned, he walked away taller, certain that this was the turning point, the day the ronin became a monk again. Of course, that certainty lasted exactly until he passed a pachinko parlor and a guy selling suspiciously cheap edibles, and Goro, ever patient, told himself he could afford to wait five more minutes before wondering about his future. He is still waiting, five minutes later, coins in hand, wondering if enlightenment comes with a jackpot multiplier.”
