Diary
Goro was always the last one to speak, the youngest of his old dojo brothers, the one who learned patience by simply outwaiting louder men until they ran out of breath. That same stillness carried him up Mount Hotaka on a hike that should have been ordinary, until the water ran dry and pride ran drier, and Goro, calm as a held breath, did what no elder would ever admit to doing, and drank from himself rather than beg the mountain for mercy. He tells it now with the same flat patience he uses for everything, no shame in his eyes, just the quiet satisfaction of a man who survived on his own terms and became legend for it among degens who respect commitment over comfort. These days he does not leave the Dojo, not out of fear, but because he has decided the world can wait for him the way he once waited out storms and sparring partners and bad decisions alike. He still tries to reclaim the old discipline, meditating at dawn, only to find himself three hours later cross-legged in the same spot, stone sober in principle, gloriously baked in practice, patiently waiting for a resolve that never quite arrives.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
'Goro' — fifth son, who learns early the world won't wait, so he'd better learn to wait for it. Patience was his whole art: the one who held position long after holding stopped making sense.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
