Diary
Goro was always the one who waited, youngest of his clan and patient as a stone in a riverbed, but even a stone cannot dodge a bowl of expired mystery broth in a filthy izakaya. Mid bite of skewered chicken, gut roaring like a dishonored ancestor, he blew out his hakama in front of the whole rowdy table, the room going dead silent except for someone's phone camera clicking for the group chat. He sat there dripping shame, thinking of the disciplined swordsman he used to be, the one who could hold a stance for hours, now unable to hold anything at all. Ever the watcher, he did not flee, he simply breathed, told himself this was just another siege to outlast, another floor to buy back one humiliating candle at a time. Weeks later he is still grinding reps and gas station tea, patiently rebuilding a reputation that rugged itself in under four seconds, proof that even the calmest degen samurai can lose the discipline war to his own bowels.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
'Goro' — fifth son, who learns early the world won't wait, so he'd better learn to wait for it. Patience was his whole art: the one who held position long after holding stopped making sense.
Carried more than worn. The Pocket Glasses fighters have perfect vision when they choose to apply it — the rest of the time, they let instinct run.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
