Diary
Goro was always the youngest, the one told to wait, so he learned to watch the garden longer than anyone else dared, patient as moss on a stone lantern, certain his moment of glory would ripen in its own time. When the moment finally came, robes pressed, blade oiled, the whole dojo courtyard hushed for his debut strike, his nerves and a suspiciously strong batch of weed conspired against him, and he soiled his kimono right there among the koi and raked gravel. The elders who once called him disciplined now call him something else entirely, and the younger degens at the dojo have not let him live it down, minting the moment into a cursed jpeg that somehow still floats near the top of the floor price. Goro says nothing, as always, choosing to sit with the shame the way he sits with everything, patient, watchful, waiting for the laughter to pass like weather. He tells himself humility was the real technique all along, though some nights, staring at the garden, he still practices the stance that failed him, quietly hoping discipline will forgive him before the next harvest of jokes does.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
'Goro' — fifth son, who learns early the world won't wait, so he'd better learn to wait for it. Patience was his whole art: the one who held position long after holding stopped making sense.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
After. The Messy fighters' hair tells you what happened — not what they planned, but what they went through.
The magical longbow. The Runed Yumi fighters inscribed power into their range weapon — the runes are the reason the arrows find what they're looking for.
