Diary
Goro was always the last to move, the youngest in every dojo line, the one who watched the older blades tire before he ever drew his own. That night in the sake house he waited too, patient as ever, cutting down ronin one by one between pours of warm sake, until the woman he loved slipped out the back door with a man who still had both his coin purse and his teeth. He did not chase her. He never chases anything, he simply outlasts it, so he sat among the bodies and the spilled cups and let the heartbreak settle into him like sediment. He vowed then, in that quiet degenerate way of his, to become a better man, to stop aping into feelings the way he apes into low cap tokens on a whim, to hold discipline the way he once held his blade. He has kept that vow for three days now, which for Goro, watching the floor of his own patience slowly rug beneath him, is practically a personal record.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for something specific. The Cet Kimono fighters know what they're wearing and why — the rest is for others to figure out.
'Goro' — fifth son, who learns early the world won't wait, so he'd better learn to wait for it. Patience was his whole art: the one who held position long after holding stopped making sense.
Paper screen optics. The Shoji Glasses fighters see the world through traditional frames — and find that the tradition holds.
Ceremony interrupted. The Disheveled Geisha fighters started something formal and ended something entirely different.
