Diary
Goro was always the youngest brother, the one taught to sit still while the elders argued, so patience became his blade long before any sword did. He carried that stillness into the main temple, kneeling in silence for hours, watching, waiting, certain that discipline would finally reward him with enlightenment. Instead it rewarded him with a venereal disease and a hairline that fled faster than any rival clan ever had, the monks' incense unable to mask the scandal that followed him out the gates. He tells himself this was fate's slow joke, that a bald degenerate ronin was who he was always meant to become, and he watches the world with the same patient eyes, waiting for discipline to return like a bet he refuses to admit he lost. Now, cross legged in some dim gambling den, rubbing his smooth scalp like a monk's prayer bead, Goro smiles faintly, because in his own strange way, every dream he never knew he had has finally, ridiculously, come true.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not quite there yet. The Warlock Wannabe fighters are in the process of becoming something more — and the gap between aspiration and arrival is where they live.
'Goro' — fifth son, who learns early the world won't wait, so he'd better learn to wait for it. Patience was his whole art: the one who held position long after holding stopped making sense.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The warrior and the wanderer. Worn by those who are between destinations but never between fights.
The magical longbow. The Runed Yumi fighters inscribed power into their range weapon — the runes are the reason the arrows find what they're looking for.
