Diary
Igor the Bear used to move like a mountain deciding to walk, slow enough that whole wars finished before he arrived, but the day he slapped Raiku the Stoner at the Fight Pits, he moved fast, and he has regretted the speed ever since. It was one open palm, not even a real strike by old samurai standards, yet it landed on a man too baked to see it coming, and the crowd's laughter fell on Igor heavier than any blade ever had. He tells himself discipline is a boulder you push uphill every morning, and every morning since that day the boulder has simply stayed put in the Dojo courtyard while Igor sits near it, drinking, sighing, promising tomorrow. He has not left the grounds in weeks, not out of shame exactly, more like a bear denning up after a bad season, gruff to anyone who asks and secretly grateful when they ask twice. Underneath the mass and the silence there is still warmth, still the old soldier who wants to be worth following again, but for now Igor just sits, immovable, waiting for the will to be as heavy as the body.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Seasonal. Fleeting. Beautiful because it ends. The Autumn Sakura Kimono fighters understand that the things that don't last are what make things matter.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Elevated tradition. The High Straw Rice Hat fighters dress high above their own heads — everything they do is reaching upward.
Alive. Responsive. The Enchanted Snake fighters have a weapon with its own agenda, and the fighter and the snake have reached an understanding.
