Lovey Haruto went home to his mum's house in the quiet hours, the way old samurai used to retreat to a mountain temple to still the mind before a blade ever left its saya, except his version of meditation was green tea, her cooking, and finally putting the phone down long enough to hear himself think. Clarity hit him like a floor sweep on a rugged bag, and in that soft, holy calm he said something too honest, too rash, too true to the wrong person at the wrong table, the kind of sentence you can't rug-pull back once it's minted into the room. He walked out of that house lighter than he'd felt in months, chin up, chest out, a proud man reborn in his mother's kitchen light. He tells himself discipline is a return to form, that speaking plainly was the warrior's way, even as he immediately apes back into old habits, quick words, quicker temper, the calm forgotten by the time he hits the driveway. Still, for one shining afternoon, Lovey Haruto was gentle enough to be dangerous, kind enough to disarm a whole room, and proud enough to believe, however briefly, that he'd finally found his center again.
