Diary
In the Okiyo region, Lovey Haruto sat with a towering plate of wasabi, eyes streaming, heart somehow still open, when a stranger lifted his whole purse clean off the table and vanished into the crowd. Any other man would have drawn steel, but Haruto only smiled through the burning tears and wished the thief well, which was perhaps why he was now broke and sniffling in a region that had forgotten what kindness even looked like. He tells himself the discipline will come back any day now, that he will stop apologizing to the people who rug him, that he will finally guard his floor instead of his feelings, and then he buys the next sobbing stranger a bowl of noodles and the vow dissolves like wasabi on the tongue. Still he wanders Okiyo asking anyone who will listen what he should do with his future, half hoping the answer is just to keep being soft in a hard world.
A paper earring from the Dojo itself. Fragile. Replaceable. The fighters who wear them understand that what looks disposable can last forever.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
Shuren (修練) is discipline: the rest of the Mint cards, the ones that never cracked. Purple Evening, lifted.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
Traditional, ornamented. The Shoji Tassel Glasses fighters dress their perception in ceremony — seeing is a ritual for them, not a reflex.
Named for the legendary fighter. The Red Heihachi fighters carry that name's weight in every match and find it light.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,468 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
A bronze fist on a stick. The Bronze Fisted Warhammer fighters wanted to punch from farther away and commissioned the most literal solution available.
