Lovey Haruto climbed Mount Haku the old way, on foot, vowing to greet the summit like a monk instead of a man who once aped his savings into a rug because a stranger smiled at him nicely. He found Haru waiting at the top, and in the rush of saying something kind, something true, he threw his arms out so wide with affection that his finger caught the rock face and snapped clean, a soft crunch swallowed by wind and good intentions. He did not scream. He only smiled through the tears, patted Haru's shoulder with his good hand, and kept talking about gratitude and floors that never really hold and how discipline is just love you practice on purpose. That night, wrapped in a splint made of chopsticks and hope, he decided the whole thing simply never happened, filing it next to every other broken promise to sit in silence for once. In the morning he woke warm, ridiculous, and already forgiving the mountain, because that is the only kind of samurai he ever learned how to be.
Worn deliberately. The Nails fighters made choices with their appearance that most would call unconventional and they would call honest.
