Diary
Before the alley, before Bob, Lovey Haruto was a name spoken with a bow, a blade that never needed to be drawn twice because kindness had already won the fight before steel could. Then came the night behind the noodle stand, Bob's eyes glassy with cheap sake and a proposition too dumb to refuse, and somewhere between the third round and the handshake deal on a coin that turned out to be rugged by sunrise, the great man got a little smaller. Now he wakes most mornings vowing to be better, journaling gratitude lists between hits off a joint shaped suspiciously like a katana, telling strangers on the floor of the dojo that their aura is immaculate even as his own portfolio and posture both slump. He still hands out warmth like it's the last real currency left, pressing compliments into palms like alms, because somewhere under the vice he remembers that a gentle word once landed harder than any strike. The discipline slips through his fingers nightly, but the kindness, stubborn old thing, refuses to rug him back.
One tooth. The whole shark is implied. The Shark Tooth fighters don't need to explain what they've overcome — they wear the evidence.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Organization ink made visible. The Black Yakuza Sleeves fighters belong to something — a code, a history — and they advertise their membership without speaking.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
After. The Messy fighters' hair tells you what happened — not what they planned, but what they went through.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
