Diary
Lovey Haruto once sat cross-legged in the Meiji Jungle, casting compliments into the canopy like bait, waiting for the world to fish back a little love of its own, and instead the vines answered with silence and one very judgmental monkey. He took it personally, the way a former samurai takes everything personally when his blade has been traded for a vape pen and his discipline for a dream about floor prices, and he wandered out of that jungle smiling anyway because smiling costs nothing and he was already broke. Now he runs a dirty gambling den where the dice are sticky and the incense smells suspiciously like weed, but he still greets every degenerate who walks through the door like they are the most important soul he has met all week, because that is the only technique he has left. He tries, every single night, to run the place with honor, a fair table, an honest cut, no rugging the regulars, and every single night he fails beautifully, comping drinks and forgiving debts until his own ledger looks like a haiku about ruin. Somewhere between the jungle and the den he lost his sword, his savings, and most of his self-respect, but never once did he lose the strange stubborn kindness that makes even the house always kind of lose.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Paper screen optics. The Shoji Glasses fighters see the world through traditional frames — and find that the tradition holds.
Named for sensation. The Splitting Axe Ache fighters' hair is named for how their opponents feel after they're done.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
