Diary
Before the meal, Oleg kept the old discipline, sword oiled, mat swept, name unstained. Then Goro sat him down in front of the shoji doors, poured the sake too generous, and fed him something that tasted like weed and betrayal in equal measure, and whatever peace Oleg carried out of the last war stayed behind those paper screens forever. He does not blame Goro. He does not blame himself either, no comment, no apology, that ship sank the same night the shoji doors got splintered off their frame. Now he moves through the Dojo like a man auditioning for the role he already won, gathering degens who mistake his calm for mentorship, promising to teach discipline he lost somewhere between the second cup and the third insult. He tries, briefly, admirably, to set a training schedule, but the schedule dies the way everything around Oleg dies, quietly, on purpose, with him standing over the wreckage looking almost bored.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Soft exterior. The Puppy Kimono fighters discovered that disarming presentation is its own strategy — you stop seeing the threat until it's too late.
War in the name and war in the deed. Read the other fighters' stories closely and Oleg keeps turning up — always as the one who ruined the moment, corrupted the innocent, lit the match.
Long range. The Telescopic Glasses fighters are already looking at what comes next while everyone else is still processing now.
Practical and armed. The Hair Bun With Chopsticks fighters put utensils in their hair and call it hair care — the dual function is not accidental.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
