Diary
Serious Oleg does not remember laughing, not once, not even the night he became a tainted man robbing the poor souls staggering out of the men's pleasure house with their pockets light and their eyes lighter still. He tells it now like a war record, no smirk, no shrug, just the cold ledger of a samurai who traded his blade for a coin purse and called it strategy. The dojo howls when he recounts it, the same way they howl at everything, but Oleg only nods gravely, certain that discipline is coming back to him any day now, certain the way a man is certain the sun rises even as he naps through it stoned on cheap dojo weed and morning regret. He has drawn up a training schedule, laminated, unbroken by mercy, and he has broken it every single day since, filing each failure as a footnote in his march toward honor. Still he waits for better days with the same flat, terrifying sincerity he once brought to thievery, as if virtue were a floor price he could simply buy back if he just stopped aping into vice long enough to notice the door was open the whole time.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The dragon lives on the body now. The Dragon Head Tattoo fighters carry their ambition on the surface — it's not hidden, and it's not a metaphor.
Of all the Olegs, the one who never got the memo any of it was supposed to be funny. He made war a vocation — grave, total, and frightening for exactly that reason.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Movement made permanent. The Long Flowing fighters trail behind themselves in every room they enter — the hair arrives first, then the fighter.
Patience as weapon. The Noose fighters don't rush — they set the conditions and wait for the opponent to walk into them.
