Diary
Shitless Botan once carried a blade the way monks carry silence, and men said fear had been cut out of him on some forgotten battlefield along with his fear of consequences. When glory finally knocked, dressed as a tournament with his name already carved into the winner's plaque, he met The English Pilot under a bridge instead and decided immortality could wait for one more round. Seven bottles later he was reciting haiku to pigeons and challenging the moon to a duel it never showed up for, while his glory wandered off to find someone slightly less unbothered by death and everything else. He tells the story now with the same flat calm he'd use describing a stubbed toe or the apocalypse, no shame, no spiral, just the dry observation that discipline left him around bottle three and hasn't been seen since. Every morning he vows to train at dawn, and every dawn he negotiates that vow down to noon, then to tomorrow, then to whenever The English Pilot is free again, recovering slowly, unafraid, and in absolutely no hurry to be a legend on anyone's schedule but his own.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
It's been that kind of day. The Bloody Mess clothing doesn't mean the fighter lost — it means they were in it deep enough that cleanliness became irrelevant.
'Botan' — a peony, a beautiful flower on a genuinely terrible situation. Somewhere in the wars he saw a thing that removed his fear permanently and never gave it back.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The farmer's crown. The Rice Hat fighters carry tradition on their head without ceremony — it's just what you wear when you have work to do.
The soul of the Dojo. Folded ten thousand times. The blade remembers every holder it has passed through.
