📖 Shitless Botan's Story

Botan means peony, a beautiful flower attached, in this case, to a genuinely terrible situation. Somewhere in the wars Shitless Botan saw a thing that removed his fear permanently, took it out clean, and never gave it back. A man with no fear left is not brave, exactly. Brave men feel the fear and go anyway; Botan just does not feel it, which makes him useful in a crisis and deeply unsettling in a card game. When the wars ended, everyone else got to be relieved. Relief requires having been afraid. Botan skipped straight to whatever comes after, and now he wanders the dojo saying the thing no one else will say and taking the bet no one else will take, calm as a flower, twice as unpredictable. Having no fear left, he has no discipline either, since you cannot scare him into training and you certainly cannot scare him out of a terrible bet.
