Diary
In the flooded rice paddies of some forgotten province, Shitless Botan lost two things on the same muddy afternoon: a beetle-fighting bracket he'd aped his last coin into, and, apparently, his personal space, when an anonymous hand decided his backside was fair game mid-match. Most men would flinch, scream, maybe reach for a blade; Botan simply blinked, finished watching his beetle get folded like a bad hand, and thought, calmly, 'huh, so that's a thing that can happen now.' He walked out of that paddy field a monk in his own mind, swearing off worldly filth, chanting sutras with the same flat unbothered stare he gives a losing bet or a knife to the ribs. Discipline, though, is a floor that keeps getting rugged: he meditates for four minutes, then reaches for the weed tin sitting suspiciously close to his prayer beads, mutters something about impermanence, and lights up anyway. Enlightenment's still pending, but fear, at least, remains permanently and hilariously absent.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
'Botan' — a peony, a beautiful flower on a genuinely terrible situation. Somewhere in the wars he saw a thing that removed his fear permanently and never gave it back.
The Dojo itself, rendered on glass. The Dojo Graffiti fighters see everything through the collection's own aesthetic — they can't separate themselves from it.
Architecture on the scalp. Each knot a decision. The Black Bantu Knots fighters make their choices visible at the top, where everyone can see.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
