Diary
At Mount Koriyoka he chased his mistress up the frozen switchbacks with the flat calm of a man who had misplaced his capacity for fear somewhere on an old battlefield, and by the time he caught her he had somehow strengthened his status rather than ruined it, which surprised everyone but him. Botan says the unsayable at every table, announces his worst intentions like weather reports, and watches other degens flinch while he stays perfectly still. He tried, once, to sit in meditation and reclaim the stillness a samurai is supposed to earn instead of steal, but he lasted four breaths before wandering off to ape into a bet no reasonable man would touch. Now he lounges at the Dojo with his blade oiled and his losses unmourned, wondering, in that flat gallows voice, what could have been if he had ever once been afraid to lose it.
Theology made weapon-adjacent. The Golden Jesuit Crosses fighters have a philosophy and the crosses are its badge — precise, absolute, delivered with complete conviction.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
'Botan' — a peony, a beautiful flower on a genuinely terrible situation. Somewhere in the wars he saw a thing that removed his fear permanently and never gave it back.
Sovereignty in fabric form. The Queeny Chic fighters dress with authority that was never granted by anyone else and therefore can't be revoked.
Born from the collection itself. The Degen generation Framed fighters came up through the ranks — they were regular fighters who crossed the threshold and were transformed by it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ceremony interrupted. The Disheveled Geisha fighters started something formal and ended something entirely different.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
